I’ve been able to identify only a handful of books written by fat people qua fat people published over the last 12 years that fit—sometimes uncomfortably—within the bounds of creative nonfiction. These books:
are written by people who would identify or be recognized as fat when authored.
are substantially engaged with the experience of navigating the world in a fat body.
don’t rely on an ideology (pro- or anti-diet) to structure their narrative.
